Pat Graff joined me on the second episode of “And that’s my story!” Pat and her husband Charles are a retired couple living in College Station, Texas. They host dinner every Sunday night for random Aggie students. Pat is a world traveler and sports fan. She goes to every single Aggie Football game, whether in College Station or not and has been to many different states in countries in the past year!
On this episode I sit down with Pat, while Charles is making lunch in the kitchen, to talk about how she began hosting dinner for students. Pat explained to me that it started with feeding her grandson, who is a student at Texas A&M. He then invited more people and with the help of the Aggie Network, the table grew, me being included!
Pat expresses how much she enjoys the array of different students from different background. She tells me that it has restored her faith in the American youth by feeding healthy, happy, and respectful kids.
For me personally, I look forward to Pat’s meals each week. There is something about sitting around a dinner table, with no phones, and having conversation, that is so lost in today’s world. As a college student, I never pass up the opportunity for a home-cooked meal, especially in a comforting environment.
This episode will inspire you to be welcoming and kind to all. If you have been shown love or community, Pat’s story will encourage you to pay that kindness forward. Whether it is by hosting dinner for your friends, or simply just doing something out of the kindness of you heart for others, I hope this is motivational. Remember friends, you never know much something little, can go a long way! You can listen to this episode on the Apple Podcast app by searching AGCJ 366 or by clicking the link below!
