Q&A, Q&A, Q&A!!!

WE HAVE BIG NEWS! What’s the Move Podcast is officially doing its first ever question and answer advice column! Life, faith, relationships, travel, toxic friendships, the things we are loving right now-you name it and will do our best to help and encourage!

Wisdom with Caroline Spears

Who doesn’t love a good question and answer? This week, I am joined by Caroline Spears to answer these exciting questions. This friend of mine is a senior here at Texas A&M University, studying English and Communications. Although, I keep on telling her she needs to be a psychology major so that she can be a counselor- she is GIFTED in helping people navigate the hard things in life.

Caroline is the type of friend I can sit down with and talk to for hours and hours. Truthfully, there are so many conversations we have where we leave thinking we should just record a podcast together because of how long we can talk. Thankfully, the time has come for just this! Caroline is one of the wisest people I know. She is incredibly passionate about God and His word. She is a professional friend and knows what people around her need. This girl knows what she is talking about- Caroline is the chaplain of her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, and has led Bible Studies around the Bryan College Station area for several secular organizations. There is no one better I can think of to answer these questions with me.

A preview for some of the questions will be answering:

  1. How do I find/ build God glorifying friendships?
  2. How do I handle conflict in a God glorifying way?
  3. What are things/products/hobbies y’all are loving right now?

We had a blast recording this. Y’all will not want to miss it. Come join us as we answer your questions and let us know if we should record a PART 2! We have PLENTY more to cover! You can email whatsthemovepodcast@gmail.com to be an (anonymous) part of this episode! Nothing is off limits!

Be sure to listen to our other episodes!

Howdy there and welcome to Episode Two of One Stoplight to Success, New Homes. In this episode we learn what moving to College Station from a small town is like. Topics include Traffic, Construction, lack of space and finding a community. The Aggies talk about all the issues they ran into as they attempted to create a new home for themselves in College Station. I also have an incredibly insightful conversation with Katie Atkeisson about the differences between College Station, Dallas and her home town of Kerens.

One Stoplight to Success was inspired by my background growing up in Dallas, Texas. When I first came to A&M, three years ago, and saw how tiny it was by comparison, I went absolutely stir crazy. As insane as it may seem, I had never dreamed anyone could live in a town so small. It was like a cage to me compared with what I grew up with. Imagine my surprise when I then found out many of my fellow classmates told me College Station was akin to the big city for them. This changed my entire perspective and inspired me to learn as much as I could about these small town aggies. This inspired the idea for One Stoplight to Success. So come along as we talk about life outside the big city of College Station!

Welcome back to “I Call Shotgun!” the podcast where the passenger gets to pick the topic and the destination.

In this episode, Kristen changes up who she rides with as it isn’t a close friend of hers, but rather someone closer: her parent.

Being away from home, it comes as no surprise what a college student might be feeling. There are many ups and downs that come with being in college hundreds of miles away. These experiences are unique but similar among people in multiple ways. Joining Kristen for this ride is her father, who is a former student of Texas A&M University and knows all too well the struggle of leaving home to the highlight that is becoming an Aggie. Kristen interviews her father with the topic of conversation being that of sending your kid away not only to college but to one that is six hours away from home.

Together, they share their unique perspectives on the experience of going to college far from home on “I Call Shotgun!”. The parent gets to speak about their worries about being far from their child and how they stay connected while Kristen adds a little bit of that student perspective. As the car cruises down the roads of College Station, the conversation shifts from advice to jokes, making this a lighthearted episode of the “I Call Shotgun!” podcast. Through both of their stories, we get a glimpse into the complex world that is college life. College life is where students and parents alike navigate new challenges and forge deeper connections.

Grab a seat and join us on this ride as we explore the ups and downs of college far from home. Whether you’re a student, a parent, or curious about the college experience, “I Call Shotgun!” is the perfect podcast!

“I Call Shotgun! – Ride 1” is coming in hot with its first-ever episode! And now it is here with college stories from two college students building their futures while away from home.

The time is finally here! The perfect car ride companion is here after three months, ready to play from your speakers! The podcast is ready to be listened to by anyone and everyone! If you’re looking for a podcast that makes you feel as if you’re in the backseat of your friend’s car, you’ve come to the right place.

Kicking off this first episode strong is an episode that is comforting and almost familiar ride. With Kristen and not only her shotgun rider but another friend in the backseat, the podcast takes place during a late-night drive throughout College Station. There’s no real destination in mind as the three travel around main roads and back roads, dark paths and neon signs, to do nothing but get some good discussions in.

With her close friends, it is no surprise how long the both of them can talk. The three are able to share their stories about their first two years in college at Texas A&M University. The three are connected through the FLO that they are all a part of, which becomes the main topic of conversation. At the top of a parking garage, the three speak about their experiences, how they ended up there, and how they feel about the school year coming to an end. Nothing is off limits between three friends chatting it up and the listener: you!

So buckle up, roll down the windows, and join us! Whether you’re a college student yourself or just looking for a fun ride, “I Call Shotgun!” is the perfect podcast to listen to! Find the podcast over at https://agcj366.tamu.edu/ and on Spotify.

HOW to Rush the Local Church

Howdy friends & welcome to the third episode of the Rush the Local Church Podcast! We seek to RUSH the local church because we are racing there as fast as we can. In this day and age, a good Godly community can be so hard to find. We seek to help incoming freshman and current college students at both Blinn and Texas A&M University find Christian community in the Bryan/College Station area.

Local Church “Hunting”

When searching for your church home, you have to begin the process of what we like to call “church hunting” or “church shopping.” Church shopping can be slightly overwhelming if you do not have a plan and you do not know what you are looking for. Once you know how to prioritize and make your church “shopping” list.

Reese Benton

How to make your “shopping” list

During this third episode, you will get to hear from my sweet friend Reese Benton. Reese is a Communications major at Texas A&M and proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2025! Reese is a freshman who recently went through the entire process of hunting for a church, so she has a fresh perspective on how to steward that well.

We are going to talk about what we put on our shopping lists and how we prioritize the items on it. There is no such thing as a perfect church, but there is a church for everyone that will meet their needs. Reese is going to share how she made her list, how she evaluated the churches she visited, and how she chose her church home at First Baptist Church Bryan.

Ready to start hunting? Not sure what to put on your list? No clue where to even begin? We boldly invite you to join us as we seek to answer these questions. Stop going through life alone & let’s RUSH the local church TOGETHER!

Rush Godly Community in the Local Church

Howdy friends and welcome to the second episode of the Rush the Local church podcast! We seek to RUSH the local church because we are racing there as fast as we can. In this day and age, a good Godly community can be so hard to find. We seek to help incoming freshman and current college students at both Blinn and Texas A&M University find Christian community in the Bryan/College Station area.

Finding Community in College

As college students, we are going to meet all kinds of people in all kinds of places. We have the opportunity to build friendships in:

  • classes
  • organizations
  • dorms/apartments
  • local church

While all these spheres of influence are incredible opportunities to find community, there is something crucial to having Godly community as a foundation in our lives.

Taylor Bench

In this second episode, we will get to talk to my sweet friend Taylor Bench. Taylor is an Education major at Texas A&M and proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2024! She serves as a Missional Community Group leader through her local church, Restoration Church Bryan. Missional Community Groups, known as MCG’s, serve to create opportunities for fellowship, spiritual growth, and service in response to the Gospel. She is extremely passionate about fostering community the way the Lord calls us to.

Taylor and I are going to talk about why Godly community is important and how the local church is the best place to foster it. We are going to talk about what scripture tells us about fellowship and how we can respond accordingly. We are going to discuss how her MCG defines success and how they hold each other accountable as they strive for true Godly community.

Are you desiring Godly community? Not sure what Godly community looks like? Want to know what scripture tells us about fellowship?  We boldly invite you to join us as we seek to answer these questions! Stop going through life alone & let’s RUSH the local church TOGETHER!

Why should I rush the Local Church?

Howdy friends and welcome to the Rush the Local Church Podcast. We seek to RUSH the local church because we are racing there as fast as we can. In this day and age, a good Godly community can be so hard to find. We seek to help incoming freshman and current college students at both Blinn and Texas A&M University find Christian community in the Bryan/College Station area.

Common questions about rushing the local church:

  1. What is the local church?
  2. Why is the local church important?
  3. Can I find community at the local church?

If you are asking yourself these questions, we would love to answer them for you!  Allie Botello

During this first episode, you will get to hear from my sweet friend Allie Botello.

Allie is a Recreation, Parks, & Tourism major at Texas A&M and proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2024! Allie serves on the Connect Team at Breakaway Ministries with the goal of helping any and every college student get plugged into the Local Church. There is nobody more passionate about helping you find your church home than Allie.

Allie and I are going to talk about why we believe so strongly in rushing the local church. The local church is not only a place to find community, but also a place where we seek to grow in our faith. Allie is going to share some of the amazing ways she has seen the Lord work through her local church, Grace Bible Church Anderson Campus, and how she has found a home there. Allie is also going to share how the Lord uses the Connect Team at Breakaway to connect students to the local church. You are not going to want to miss it!

Are you seeking community but not sure where to find it? Are you feeling unsure about the local church? We boldly invite you to join us as we seek to answer these extremely valid questions. Stop going through life alone & let’s RUSH the local church TOGETHER!
