What is the Dog Aging Project?
We all love dogs, but aging? Not so much. The Dog Aging Project is the largest companion dog health study in the world with over 47,000+ dogs enrolled. The goal of this study is to understand how biology, lifestyle, and environment influence aging. Once we have a better understanding of these determinants, their goal is to intervene to increase all dog’s healthspan, the period of life spent free of disease.
The DAP team will follow tens of thousands of dogs for ten years in order to identify the factors that maximize healthy aging!
In this episode, I will be interviewing Dr. Kate E. Creevy, Chief Veterinary Officer at the Dog Aging Project and Internal Medicine Specialist at Texas A&M, to learn more about what this research is all about. Together, we will discuss the DAP’s interesting findings about dogs and aging and how this community science project aims to better the lives of thousands of aging dogs and humans.
So, don’t miss out on this exciting episode, and learn how you and your furry friend can be part of the largest canine health study in the world!
