Dear Sorella- Balancing a Boutique & More

Trend Report takes a closer look at Dear Sorella Boutique to understand what Kim Vacante’s everyday looks like with owning a boutique, while also juggling her family, and also serving as a board member for her towns chamber of commerce.

Kim is the owner of Dear Sorella, a boutique in Wylie, Texas. This small-town boutique is set apart by her interactions with customers, and the community.

Sitting down for an over the phone interview we learn how the idea of Dear Sorella began. With starting her boutique only two years ago, Kim set the bar high for other boutiques in her small town. Sorella in Italian means sister, the boutique name was influenced by her sister helping start up her business.

After graduating from Texas A&M, Kim started her career as a teacher. Since opening her boutique, she has taken a step back from teaching and now runs Dear Sorella full time. She doesn’t have plans to completely stop teaching, Kim explained different programs in the Dallas area that she can pick when she wants to teach, but she did explain that Dear Sorella takes a lot of her time.

Something not included in the episode is what the future looks like for the boutique. Kim has plans of expanding Dear Sorella to ring in the new year.

Kim lets us in on her day to day, her strategy for buying merchandise, how she is making an impact with her community, and what makes her boutique different from others around her. Even though owning her boutique is a 24/7 job, Kim is also a full-time mom.  She is constantly on the go, finding the balance between mom and boss life.
