Hosting people for a get together or family gathering can be a big responsibility. As hostess you are in charge of the environment, meaning creating a clean and inviting home. In episode 2, Maddie and her special guest will talk about what makes your home stand out when it comes to hosting.

Some insight on tips that will be discussed is, making sure everything is nice and inviting for your guests, nothing messy on the floors and counters. Even full trashcans can even be something that gets in your guests way. Picking up the whole house makes the party seem more put together.

The appropriate decorations for the gathering. A birthday, anniversary, etc can have specific decorations. These do not have to be extravagant but balloons can never hurt! Decorations however are not necessary, but can add to the celebration. They are not needed for small functions such as a dinner party.

Tablescape’s make your home feel much more put together even if it is very simple. Google or Pinterest can hep you learn and have fun with designing your dining area. Break out the nice china for guests, when else would you use it?! Have fun with getting things ready for company, hosting should not be a burden.

Now, You have created the most welcoming environment, prepared for your guests and when they leave you won’t feel stressed about household chores (besides trash) because the cleaning is done! Now, let’s talk food. If you don’t love cooking ask others to bring dishes like a pot-luck or cater. If you DO love cooking this is where you really shine. People will remember your beautiful clean house but they will LOVE your treats. If this gathering doesn’t require a full meal, always have snacks. You can make this however extravagant you want, meats, cheese, crackers, etc. Offer drinks of some sort, water, soda, wine, etc.

And don’t forget to let your guest enjoy themselves! Make sure everyone has what they need and offer to get something if not. Be the Hostess with the Mostest! And there you have it! A little slice of Southern Hospitality everyone will remember. Visit Spotify to find Magnolia Mae’s podcast to hear the rest!

When hosting get togethers or family events knowing how to welcome your guests into your home with the most warmth and comfort is very important to creating an inviting experience at your event. Magnolia Mae podcast goes over Southern Hospitality and what the true meaning of that is. Welcoming people with warmth, charm and kindness are a few things from southern hospitality that you can do everyday to make those around you feel welcomed! The southern states are known for this inviting form of hospitality, thus giving it its name.

Some ways to add this hospitality into your everyday life is to always show others kindness. You never really know what others are going through. Be respectful, say “yes ma’am and no ma’am” and “Yes sir and no sir”. While being respectful, having good manners in all other areas of conversation and at the table are important.

This also comes from a deeper passion for family and wanting to carry on special traditions such as sewing quilts, gardening or even smaller things such as family recipes. If you love cooking your already set up for success to host company in your home and serve yummy food or desserts!
