What is the Dog Aging Project?

We all love dogs, but aging? Not so much. The Dog Aging Project is the largest companion dog health study in the world with over 47,000+ dogs enrolled. The goal of this study is to understand how biology, lifestyle, and environment influence aging. Once we have a better understanding of these determinants, their goal is to intervene to increase all dog’s healthspan, the period of life spent free of disease.

The DAP team will follow tens of thousands of dogs for ten years in order to identify the factors that maximize healthy aging!

Episode 2: From Europe to Texas A&M

Throughout our lives, especially as young adults, we are faced by constant change and uncertainty of what the future holds. Moving from Europe to the US for college education is a decision that can be both exciting and overwhelming all at once. It is a big step, but it can also be the experience of a lifetime.

Many college students, from the United States and all over the world, often day-dream about the experience of studying abroad in Europe. This being said, it will be interesting to explore this POV from young adults that left their lives in Europe to come find their American Dream. So, don’t miss out in this episode as we dive deep into this topic and more here at Aggie International Talk.

Meet our guests

Pierre Louis Carminati in Europe  Alex Garriga in Europe

Our first guest is Pierre Louis Carminati, a Master student from France. He graduated from EM Strasbourg Business School for his undergraduate. Shortly after working for a bank for a few months, he quickly realized he wants to pursue a career in the United States. He moved to College Station, not knowing what to expect, drawn by the prestige of Mays Business School and the possibilities getting a degree from Texas A&M could offer to his career. As of right now, he is navigating the job searching process and looking to stay and work in the US after he finishes his Master in Finance.

Lastly, Alex Garriga, from Barcelona, Spain, is doing a Master in Communications. He moved to College Station in 2021. Alex was originally only staying for one year as an exchange student and ended up staying longer here at Texas A&M as is hoping to find a job here in the US and stay close to the area.

Episode 1: Latin America

Moving from Latin America to the US for college is a significant life-changing experience. It can be exciting, challenging, and daunting at the same time. Despite the challenges, there are many rewards to studying in the US as a Latin American student. One of the most significant benefits is the opportunity to receive a high-quality education. The US is home to some of the world’s most prestigious universities, and many Latin American students choose to study in the US to gain access to these institutions, such as Texas A&M University.

In this episode of Aggie International Talk, me and our guests will discuss these challenges and rewards while sharing the good and not so good experiences as we reminisce over our college years here at a A&M.
