For over 30 years, Bahama Buck’s has been shaving what they claim to be The Greatest Sno On Earth. As an Avalanche Crew member for almost three years, I can proudly say that this franchise is just getting started.
In our very first episode of “What’s Underneath All That Sno?” we begin to shovel out what makes Bahama Buck’s so special.
Is it the endless flavor combinations and dirty sodas? The friendships that flourish with each round of new hires? Maybe the fun atmosphere and laid-back scheduling? Or is it honestly the cute merch, with each shirt and hat stamped with an embroidered snowcone?
To find out, I handed Cole Ratermann a shovel, a fellow Avalanche Crew member like myself who’s worked at Bahama Buck’s for over two years.
Cole is a junior industrial distribution major at Texas A&M University. Like myself, we both started working at Buck’s our freshman year and have stuck by the snowcone shack, sticky hands and all. The only difference is on top of working at Buck’s, Cole is a tutor, an “Automation Specialist Intern” and does everything Impact-related on the side.
To simply state, Cole works three jobs and still manages school, family and friends. So why does he keep snowcones on his resume?
Well, to simply state again, Cole says, “It’s the people.”
From late-night Fuego runs to the Bahama Buck’s Olympics, there’s something in the Sno that bonds an Avalanche Crew for years to come. And whether that’s sticky flavor, Sour Patch sauce, or condensed milk, Cole and I can both agree that Bahama Buck’s is one of a kind. Nonetheless, no matter how close Kona Ice gets to mimicking our Tiger’s Blood Sno, it’ll be the crew that sets us apart. Every time.
