Before you begin reading our sneak peeks and behind the scenes clips for Episode 2 of the mini series, Doozies in DC, I have a suggestion. Open this playlist so you can truly be immersed in what myself and the roommates of 503S were listening to during the 4th of July festivities at our Nation’s Capital for our Washington DC Hillterns.
Fireworks in DC with Washington DC Hillterns
This episode will give some of the most pertinent information for summer ANRP/PPIP interns in DC. With the most important takeaway being…DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GO TO THE NATIONAL MALL TO WATCH FIREWORKS. There will be way too many people and you will have to be there multiple hours in advance. Don’t get me started on how long it’ll take you to get home on the metro after.
However, I have a secret to share with you of how to have the BEST firework experience in DC.
Enjoying 4th of July Fireworks:
-Find a location other than the National Mall. We suggest sitting across from the Potomac or renting a kayak or other boat so you can be directly on the body of water.
-Pick up a cheap food like pizza
-Bring sparklers
-Enjoy your perfect firework experience
-Leave quickly (or slightly early) if you don’t want to wait forever for the metro
Other important suggestions: Do not invite your Judo teacher neighbor with two kids to your cookout.
Now, sit back, listen to the eagle screech playlist, and get ready to have the ultimate patriotic listen. This is how to enjoy 4th of July in DC with your favorite members of 503S.
Behind the Scenes:
The playlist you listened to was called Eagle Screech and was made by myself, the roommates of 503S, other Washington DC Hillterns, and friends with very strict guidelines:
It must mention America, an American city, beer, guns, cowboys, liberty, eagles, red, white, and blue, make us feel proud to be Americans, or receive a majority vote of being American enough. Additionally, there were no British artists allowed on the playlist.
