There are many checklist college students have to help prepare them for their future jobs. In the construction industry, companies are always looking for students who have had an internship with companies. Internships with certain companies can help you easily land a great job out of college. Being an intern can be very stressful, imagine leaving your college for the whole semester away from all your friends and get thrown into a heavy work loaded job. That’s why my special guest Macie Mclean is perfect for this episode.
Interns in the construction take on a heavy work load as the rest. They are constantly needing to learn and keep up with the pace and try not to slow anyone down. The expectations are very high for you, even tho you’re a college student. As an intern you help both the project manager and the superintendent. This is because once you start working full time you choose which path you want to go. Macie Mclean is a my co-worker and an intern as well as me. She is a current Texas A&M student and a senior as well. She is a intern with me at Manhattan Construction. It’ll be interesting to dive into her mental health and see how she’s doing so far and how she thinks she’ll be doing with some big challenges coming ahead.
For the final interview, Macie and I will be discussing:
- Stress that comes with being an intern senior year?
- Goals in the construction industry?
- Any stress living away from her fiancé for 8 months when she starts full time?
- How is she doing mentally so far?
- How does she balance school and work?
My personal experience so far in this industry will be apart of the podcast series. I worked all summer long and currently am working my senior year of my last semester in college. I haven’t been in the industry long and I can see my mental health depleting so far. It’ll be nice to learn from my co-worker and friend to see how she is managing in this industry and see if we can help one another.
Join into this episode as Macie and I dive into the blueprints.
